Still fighting my way through the text ... interesting read, you give it a go Lady Cee? Here's some background (from Wikipedia):

The Tarnac Nine are nine alleged anarchist saboteurs arrested in the village of Tarnac, France in November 2008 in relation to a series of instances of direct action. The gendarmerie, French police, entered Tarnac with helicopters and dogs and dragged the suspects from their beds.

Around twenty people were arrested on November 11th 2008, and nine of those were charged with "criminal association for the purposes of terrorist activity". Of those nine, Yildune Lévy was released, under review, on Jan 16th 2009 but Julien Coupat is still being held in prison despite being ordered for release in December 2008. The nine are predominantly graduate students from middle-class backgrounds, from 22 to 34 years old. Five of the nine had been living in a farmhouse on a hill overlooking the village.

They stand accused of associating with a "terrorist enterprise", causing delays to the French rail network by disabling over 160 trains. Coupat has also been charged with writing The Coming Insurrection, a popular anti-capitalist text. Academics and Coupat's family have said that the threat from the "violent left" is being exaggerated, and that the Tarnac Nine are "scapegoats for a generation who have started to think for themselves about capitalism and its wrongs". Support groups have emerged across France, in Greece, Spain and in the United States.

This was an awesome read, just finished it the other day. The text itself was dry but it sent me on a surfing mission to investigate things I didn't quite "get" that resulted in a whole lot of knowledge gained.

Thanks for posting it!

Oh, you're very welcome, eversesh. Reminds me, I really should re-read it myself.

I mostly cruise a few American politico-sites: commondreams.org, democraticunderground.com, and of course good old bartcop.com. And The Rude Pundit for laughs.

I don't think it's any surprise to anyone that our medicine remains in the legal shadows because the Romans, I mean Americans, don't like it. Socialistic values are bad for business, therefore she (America) doesn't take care of her damned people. Full-on cultural war is therefore always imminent. She can't have her children asking, while pointing to the 49th parallel, lower lip extended & trembling, "How come THEIR parents let THEM have chocolate-chip cookies?!"

There's an index, I forget its name, which measures the general discontentedness of a country's people. A score of .45 indicates that there's a very serious threat of armed insurrection. Last I read, the U.S. had a score of .46 or .47... Maybe that's changed w/Obama. Then again, gun & bullet sales down there have been so brisk that many stores are often sold out.

"May you live in interesting times" is actually a Chinese CURSE.
